Refund policy

Changing your mind

You have 14 days from the day your order arrives to tell us you want to cancel it. You do not need to give a reason. If your order comes in more than one parcel — which happens, because the range is held across several warehouses — the 14 days runs from the day the last parcel arrives.

Once you have told us, you have a further 14 days to send the goods back.

How to tell us

Email returns@wellkeptgoods.co.uk with your order number. A sentence is enough. There is a form at the bottom of this page if you would rather use one, but you do not have to.

We will reply within one working day with the address to send your item to. Please wait for that before posting anything — our pieces ship from more than one warehouse, and something sent to the wrong address will hold up your refund.

Sending it back

Please send the item back in the condition it arrived, with its packaging if you still have it. You are entitled to unpack it and handle it as you would in a shop. If it has been handled more than that and its value has dropped as a result, we may reduce your refund to reflect the difference.

On a change-of-mind return you pay the return postage. We would use a tracked service — until the parcel reaches us it is your responsibility. Some of our pieces are large, and return postage on a floor lamp or an 88cm clock is not trivial, so it is worth checking what it would cost before you order.

Your refund

We refund within 14 days of the item reaching us, or of you showing us proof you have sent it, whichever comes first. It goes back to the card or account you paid with.

If you send the whole order back, your refund includes the standard delivery charge you paid on the way out. If you paid for Express we refund the standard rate rather than the upgrade. If you send back only part of an order and keep the rest, the delivery charge stays with the part you kept and is not refunded.

If something is faulty, damaged or not as described

Different rules apply here, and they are set by law rather than by us.

Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 you have 30 days from delivery to reject a faulty item and have all your money back. After that, you can ask us to repair or replace it; if a repair or replacement is not possible, or does not put the fault right, you can then have a refund or a reduction in price. We are describing your statutory rights here, not adding to them.

For the first six months, a fault is assumed to have been present at delivery unless we can show otherwise. After six months the same remedies remain open to you, but it is for you to show the fault was inherent rather than caused by use, wear or accident. In Scotland these rights run for five years from purchase.

What is not a fault: accidental damage, ordinary wear and tear, damage caused by installation not carried out by a competent person, or a fitting that has been modified or rewired. Bulbs are consumable and are not covered.

Where an item is genuinely faulty we pay the return postage and we do not deduct for use. If a parcel arrives damaged, photograph it before you unpack any further and send us the pictures — it makes the claim faster for both of us.

Electrical items

Mains-powered fittings should be installed by a competent person. Please do not attempt to rewire or repair anything yourself — a fitting that has been altered cannot be returned as faulty, and we would rather you were safe than out of pocket.

Model cancellation form

You do not have to use this. An email saying you want to cancel is enough.
